AIA Western Mountain Region & AIA Utah
2010 Conference
CONSIDERING CONTEXT
Improving design and practice by considering, in depth, the contexts in which we work.
Join us for an enjoyable, informative and inspiring, two-day conference in the relaxed beauty of Silver Lake Lodge at Deer Valley, Utah.
Our speakers will bring to life the critical question of design: what defines design success today given the freedom of form, the urgency of sustainability, and the question of responsibilities to cultural and community contexts. You'll gain a new perspective that will inform and enhance your architectural work.
Given that integrated project delivery and Building Information Modeling (BIM) are reshaping the relationship with the owner, the responsibilities of team participants, and design itself, this conference will offer the latest and best information on IPD and BIM. Finith Jerrigan, author of BIG BIM little bim will kick-off day two, followed by Steve Hagen of GSA, who will talk about why and how the biggest owner in the country is implementing IPD. We will then hear from a panel of firms and take your questions about IPD and BIM implementation. An implication of these changes and others on firm profitability will be addressed by Scott Simpson, FAIA, who offers a new paradigm on compensation. Then we'll open the doors for a fun, historical tour of Park City for the balance of the afternoon.
OnLine Registration for the Conference, Pre-Conference Workshops, and Awards Gala will be available July 1.
Pre-Conference Workshops
And, if you need an excuse to head up to Deer Valley early, we are offering two concurrent workshops Thursday afternoon at Snow Park Lodge: Post-Occupancy Evaluation; and Environmental Design and Branding. Each will be presented by national level speakers.
Trade Show
We're assembling an array of product and service representatives to exhibit the latest materials, systems, and information for project success. We'll open the trade show Friday evening with a hosted reception, and give you concentrated time on Saturday to meet with exhibitors.
